Company History

The Oldest, and maybe the First, Glass Shop in Orange County, TX.,  Dixie Glass was established January, 1941 by Ramsey “Dixie” McCormick. The original location was in a garage, which had been added-on to another business, somewhere on the most southern end of 15th Street, approximately where the Ford dealership is today. The company was moved to its current location, the corner of Green Ave. & 9th Street, in 1946.

Due to age and health problems, Ramsey sold the business in July 1984. The new owners were; his youngest brother, Randolph McCormick-President, Patrick Thibodeaux-VP/Mgr. and Gilbert Hutchinson-Secretary, along with several other stockholders who were managers of other glass companies owned by Randolph.

Patrick Thibodeaux, the new manager, had nine years experience in the glass business. He came to Orange, Texas from Thibodaux, LA where he had been Mgr/VP for two years. Patrick started his career with the Dixie Glass organization in Opelousas, LA in 1975. From there he transferred to the Hattiesburg, MS store, as the assistant manager, before being promoted to manager of the Thibodeaux, LA store. store.

In 1999 Randolph McCormick decided to retire from the glass business and sold his chain of the glass companies. Patrick continued as manager of the Orange store for the new owners until September 2004 when Patrick  purchased the property and assets of Dixie Glass.
